Advocacy

The main purpose of this component is to engage key community and government stakeholders in constructive dialogues and consultative events to discuss and identify policy issues on pastoral area peace building issues and advocate for the improvement of policy implementation and new policy formulation towards sustainable peace. In addition, traditional institutions particularly women peace builder structures (both as institutions and at individual level) will be sensitized on peace advocacy mechanisms so as to be voice for the communities affected by conflict situation. Further, the target groups promote preventive mechanisms for sustainable peace and stronger social cohesion among borderline pastoral communities in Afar, Oromia and Somali border line conflict prone areas. The approach to be used will be community empowerment and advocacy mechanism. The activity will make the target groups effective change agents and peace lobby groups to influence decision makers to give attention to local peace and stability as priority agenda.
